So, Dota 7.07

Dota is my doom and my void. I enjoy it. It consumes too much time and it causes me not being able to play other games as much as I would love, but I enjoy it.

However, like other games, it has some problems. Unlike other games, the developers are actively trying to face these issues and mitigate them. Valve doesn't communicate much and doesn't make excuses. At times the community would prefer things differently, but at least this way, there are no obvious flaws with the system.

Now, for those unaware, big patches in dota are...well...big. As in game changing. As in what worked yesterday won't work tomorrow at all. They don't come often, in fact, Valve lets the meta boil for a good while, before they decide to change it majorly. And boy did they do that.

First off: removal of Poor man's shield and Iron Talon. To me, it was to be expected. It's very hard to balance a game element properly, if everybody is able (and eager) to use it constantly. Both of these items were strong and overused.
PMS was meant to protect squishy agi carries and enable them to enter later phases of the game. It was massively used by pretty much any melee hero, especially offlaners (who then bullied said carry out of the lane).
Iron talon was meant to speed up farming and bring heroes OUT of the forest more. Instead it was used to allow offlaners hide in the forest if the lane wasn't going well. Not to mention sped up jungle only meant that some heroes stayed there for extended periods of time, farming for crucial items (And either getting them and ruling the day, or not getting them and staying useless without interaction with enemy.)
Both of these removals were very needed.

Turbo mode. Boy. I played a few games of it so far. I have to say, I like it. It skips some crucial steps in the game and probably has negative effect on some heroes which are dependant on timing of those steps. But then it gives them so much gold that with our very wide variety of item choices, they might just as well stay relevant anyways. It is...interesting. It is also stupid. And I like it. Also people who don't play much dotos might enjoy this mode, because it scratches that specific dota itch, while being much faster and less annoying.

Pretty much all hero changes are liked by me. There are some minor exceptions here and there (plz no more mid Bane), but most of them are deserved, will help heroes stay relevant and/or give heroes a specific niche.

Map changes. Specifically bounty rune movement. I like it. It encourages steals and invasions. It's aggressive and mean and I love all of that. Although I do think Dire is in a bit better position with the new changes, but since the winrate is still in favor of Radiant, it doesn't matter much.

I expect there to be more people playing Dota now, until we see if these changes don't actually break more than they improve.
For me, it doesn't mean much else than I'll be playing more dota as well.
